Malaysia - Penang - Kek Lok Si Temple Part 3 - Goddess of Mercy

PLEASE ASK PERMISSION BEFORE YOU RE POST MY PHOTOS ON TO YOUR BLOG. THERE ARE SOME BLOGGERS WHO DID NOT ASK MY PERMISSION AND REPOST MY PHOTOS WITHOUT THE COURTESY OF LINKING BACK TO MY BLOG. THIS IS LIKE STEALING. PEOPLE, I HAVE SPEND MUCH TIME TAKING PHOTOS AND DOING HOMEWORK ON MY TRAVELLING INFORMATION AND KINDLY SHARE THESE INFORMATION TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN THEM. IF NECESSARY I WILL POST SCREEN SHOT OF YOUR BLOG TO SHOW YOUR BAD MANNERS OF STEALING MY PHOTOS. THE MOST DISGUSTING THING THEY DID WAS TO SCREEN SHOT MY PHOTO AND CORP OFF MY BLOG TITLE FROM MY PHOTO AND REPOST THEM IN THEIR BLOG.

We took the inclined lift to the top of the temple to see the tall goddess of mercy statue.

We need to pay RM2 per person per way to use the inclined lift.

In 2002, a 30.2m bronze statue of the Kuan Yin was completed and opened to public.

The bronze statue replaced the previous white plaster Kuan Yin statue which was damaged due to a fire a few years earlier. The bronze statue is located on the hillside above the pagoda while the head of the previous statue which survived the fire is preserved and placed on the right hand corner of the new statue.

I remember seeing this white plaster statue of the Goddess of Mercy many many years ago when I visited Penang. I think it was in late eighties.

  1. The weather doesn't look good when you are in Penang.

  2. You are so right about the weather. It was raining when I was at the top of the temple but the rain did stop and I managed to take some quick photos before it started to rain.
