As we took the afternoon flight, after all the checking into the hotel, it was soon dark. We went to look for food for our dinner. As it was our first day in Penang, we walked to New World Park (quite a distance from our hotel) but actually we could take Bus No. 101 from a bus stop that is near our hotel (i.e. the bus stop opposite Indian Odeon Theatre - will post and talked about the photo later in another post).
New World Park is located at Lorong Swatow. It helps if you got a map of Penang, and you can find the location from the map.
Not sure if it was we are too late or the stalls close early, the centre looked so deserted. However there are many nice restaurants there too. But we wanted to try the Penang Hawker Food that we heard so much of.
Disappointed we walked back to our hotel and head to Red Garden Food Paradise. It is directly opposite our hotel (Cititel Penang).
The mood over here was so much different from New World Park, it was so crowded and with lots of food.
First thing we tried was the Penang Char Kway Teow and costs us only RM4 but at other coffeeshops, it cost only RM3
We also ordered some mutton and chicken satay. But they dont have the ketupat ....argghhh.
The the rain came pouring so heavily.
After dinner, we looked around some of the shops selling souvenirs, got some chokers for my sons. They cost so cheap. When the rain finally stops, we headed back to the hotel and have a good night sleep after watching some cantonese drama on their local channel. :)
The above photo is the view from our hotel room window which shows the location of Red Garden Food Paradise (just opposite our hotel - Cititel Penang).
You can view more information about Red Garden Food Paradise from their official website
Did you try the nasi kandar and soup Hameed in front of M'sia Hotel?
ReplyDeleteThomas, no we did not tried that. Most of the time, we were out sightseeing and not in the vicinity of our hotel. We had our meals outside. Will talked about it when I come to that.
