Siem Reap Trip 2014 - Angkor Wat Temple

Finally we get to visit the famous Angkor Wat Temple. It really need no introduction. It was one of the wonder of the world and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Angkor Wat was built in the first half of the 12th century (113-5BC). Estimated construction time of the temple is 30 years by King Suryavarman II, dedicated to Vishnu (Hindu), replica of Angkor Thom style of art. Angkor Wat, the largest monument of the Angkor group and the best preserved, is an architectural masterpiece. Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, relief's and sculpture make it one of the finest monuments in the world.

Wat is the Khmer name for temple (the French spelling is "vat "), which was probably added to "Angkor "when it became a Theravada Buddhist monument, most likely in the sixteenth century. After 1432 when the capital moved to Phnom Penh, Angkor Wat was cared for by Buddhist monks.

You can read more information about Angkor Wat from TourismCambodia.

Remember the one day pass that we bought at the ticket office earlier in the day, we need to have the pass with us the whole day, we need to show our pass each time we visited all the different temples.

The men wearing blue uniform will check your pass, you need to buy a new pass if you lost it.

Everything in here seems to be in black and white.

The striking orange robes wore by the monks really made the photo outstanding. The monks are mostly from other temples who came to visit Angkor Wat.

Lots of restoration works till going on.

Rich history of Khmer culture and daily life carved on the wall of the temple.

Inside the temple, it really look ancient and magnificient. Was so impressed by the sight.

The carvings of buddha can be seen at the bottom of each pillars.

I guessed the head of the statue were looted by thieves.

At the end of the temple tour, we were greeted by sourvenir shops and refreshment cafes.

The reflection of Angkor Wat Temple reflected in the lake. Many tourists would come here to take the sunrise photos of Angkor Wat, we did not cause firstly we could not wake up so early and secondly it being the raining season and weather is very cloudy. In fact the rain just stopped when we were visiting Angkor Wat.

Hahaha doing some candid shots of the temple, making it believe as if the temple is miniature.

Kids love the horse riding in the compound of the temple.
