Okinawa, Japan Trip 2020 - Day 2 - Naminoue Beach (Naha) (Travelled in January 2020)
From Naminoue Shrine, we could see Naminoue Beach which is located just infront of the temple, a very short walk from the temple to the beach. The beach is not very beautiful cause of the flyover situated right infront of the beach but the sandy beach is popular with the local. It was still winter and the cold wind from the sea is very cold and we spend sometime here watching people enjoying and playing at the beach.
We decided to go shopping next. It is cheaper to take a taxi than a bus as there's two of us. Bus fare is 230 yen each from the beach to Prefecture Office monorail station and the taxi fare is only 560 yen,if there's 3 or 4 people, it is cheaper to take the taxi than the bus. As I did not bring along my map and without wifi, I could not tell the taxi driver to fetch us all the way to Aeon Mall at Oroku Monorail Station. I only have our hotel card with me, so I show the taxi driver, telling him to fetch us to kokusai street and when we were near the Prefecture Office Monorail Station, we asked him to stop and we took the monorail to Oroku station for our shopping at Aeon Mall.
Best bring along the map or a translator, the taxi driver cannot communicate in English.
