Taiwan Trip 2014 -Day 2 - Sightseeing in Taichung Part 3 - Wenwu Temple
Wenwu Temple is next after our Sun Moon Lake Boat tour. The temple is indeed very magnificent and beautiful.
Lukang Wenwu Temple was established in 1812 in Qing Dynasty. It was more than a temple. People used this place to establish the brotherhood of community and promote literature learning in the old days. For the name “Wenwu”, Wen means “literacy” and Wu means “martial force”, so we know this temple worships both the god of literacy and the god of martial force. For more information on the temple, please read from source.
I remembered visiting this temple 30 years ago during my 1st visit to Taiwan. The huge lions with the huge stone balls still stand there.
If I am not mistaken, these two stone statues were the qilin.
Everything in the temple is worth taking photos of, from the dragons to ceiling. The craftsmanship were splendid.
Door Gods guarding the temple at the entrance of the temple.
Hanging ornaments bearing wishes.
Right infront of the temple, the view of Sun Moon Lake was very beautiful and the water looked the best around 3.30 pm.
