South Korea-Seoul-Good Bye Korea

After a long and enjoyable trip to South Korea, it is time to say bye bye and home sweet home to Singapore. Oh how I miss home and our local food. :)

Dont you hate it when they dont have individual screen on the back seat, you have to sit straight and tall to watch the front screen for a movie.

South Korea-Seoul-Sinchon Shopping Area

This is Sinchon Shopping Area. The Sinchon area is the focal point for university students from surrounding Universities. Famous for its night life filled with beer halls, night clubs, and roadside food vendors, Sinchon area also offers numerous coffee shops, restaurants, and clothing, shoes, and women's accessories, not to mention beauty salons. You can view more information on shopping in korea in here .

Sinchon Train Station

Many such shops like the above selling mostly women's clothes, shoes and accessories.
Most of the time we ended up in shops enjoying the heaters cause it was so cold at 2 degrees celsius.

South Korea-Seoul-Lotte World Theme Park

After dinner, we headed to Lotte World Theme Park. It was so beautiful inside.

We took some rides. I took mainly the not so scary rides...lol. Oh it was so cold inside the theme park and outside it was freezing cold. That was why I did not take any photos of the exterior of the theme park. I was so cold that I felt my head was going to be freeze any moment. ...lol.

This is the horse carousel where they filmed the famous korean drama "Stairway to Heaven" but I am not a korean drama addict so I did not watch the drama so no idea what the fuss was about the horse carousel.

There is even an indoor ice skating in the theme park.

The parade in the theme park was colourful and beautiful.

And ending our tour in the theme park with a laser show which I think was quite boring...lol.

I headed back to my hotel for a quick bath and headed for a much needed rest and yes I slept so soundly in the beautiful and comfortable hotel room. See my earlier post on the hotel room.

South Korea - Seoul-Lotte Hotel

Our last night in Seoul, South Korea was simply luxury. We had a cartoon character room. We felt like a kid all over.

The beds were so comfortable that we had a good sleep.

Even the television was a huge flat screen that comes with play station to play games.

Even the bathroom was so wonderful with so many nice toiletries.

South Korea-Seoul-Myeong-dong Shopping Area

This is the famous shopping street called Myeong-dong Shopping Area.

There are many shops as well as street side vendors.

Many activities were conducted in this area too. We saw an astronaut asking for free hug. :)

Those guys in red jackets are guides of the big shopping centre. They directed traffics in that area. The thick jackets they wore was because it is still winter. I guess they dont wear such thick jackets during summer.

South Korea-Seoul-Korean Dance

Just a short video of the korean dance.

South Korea-Seoul-Hanjeonsik Lunch

We had a very sumptuous lunch at Kahunaville. Our guide told us that our lunch was called Hanjeonsik, the most expensive lunch in Korea.

They have musicians who played traditional korean music. I enjoyed the performance very much.

These korean dancers were performing some traditional korean dancing. They were wonderful.

We ate as we watched the performance. It was such an enjoyable lunch.

These are known as Hanjeonsik which mean full course korean meal. It came with a lot of other dishes too.

You can view my food blog for more photos of the food.

South Korea-Changdukgung Palace-Tree that looked like a dragon

As we were walking out of the palace, we came across this unusual tree that looked like a dragon.
The tree is very old and need a lot of pillars to support its trunk. This part of the tree was said to resemble the head of the dragon.

The main trunk of the tree was believed to be the body of the dragon.

If you looked at the end of the branch you noticed there is a monkey on top of the dragon claws.

Closer looked at the claws and the monkey.

South Korea-Changdukgung Palace

We have finally almost completed our tour of the Changdukgung Palace. The whole palace looked like a huge park.

This is a very beautiful path on the way out. During autumn the path would be lined with colourful trees.

The pavilion reflected in the pond looked lovely.

And we have completed our palace tours, we need to climb all these stone steps. The whole tour take about one and half hour to complete.

South Korea-Seoul-Nice roof designs of Palace

I always loved to look up and see what interesting designs I can find on ceilings and roofs.

All these patterns were so lovely, it paid to look up above us...lol

I guess these sharp pointed fences on the roofs are used to prevent people from climbing up the roofs during the ancient times.

Very lovely patterns on the roofs.

These patterns on the roofs are spiders.
