Hong kong/Zhuhai/Macau Trip 2012- Day 4 - Making our way to Macau from Zhuhai

Day 4 of our trip, we were quite sick of chinese breakfast, so decided to head to KFC for some light breakfast.  But we were surprised they served chinese breakfast there too lol. Decided to have some yew tiao (deep fried chinese cruller) and some porridge. It was so yummy.



KFC is in the same building as Yong Tong Hotel (the hotel that we stayed for one night), but the entrance were different. The building also houses a bus station that goes to other parts of china.

Nice view from KFC, we could see the Gongbei Border and also the incoming long distance buses. Lots of activities in the morning.

After checking out of our hotel, we made our way to the underground shopping mall and did some last minute shopping before walking to the immigration department at Gongbei.

Lots of signs in the mall to direct us to the immigration department and to Macau.

The Gongbei immigration is just above the stairs.

Surprised to see a long queue even though it was almost noon and a weekday but the queue was a fast moving queue and we made our way through both sides(Zhuhai and Macau) immigrations in less than one hour, think it took us about 45 minutes.

Hong kong/Zhuhai/Macau Trip 2012 - Day 3 - Zhuhai - Shopping along Ying Bin Road and Lotus Road



After checking into our hotel, we wasted no time walking around our hotel and shopping along Ying Bin Road and Lotus Road.






This is Lotus Road just next to our Yong Tong Hotel and just opposite the Gongbei Border.

Try coming in the night where all the food stalls will open.

The pedestrian street is not as clean as what I encountered when I visited Shangxiajiulu and Beijing Lu in Guangzhou last year.

Once we cleared the immigration at the arrival hall, we exited from the sliding door of the arrival hall and we turned left and made our way to the departure hall where we could see the sign "Bus Station". It was on the right hand corner of the departure hall.

Once there, we spotted this corner with security checks, etc. It would be difficult if you dont understand mandarin. On the screen, they would flashed which bus is leaving to which city/area. We were supposed to take the free shuttle bus from Jiuzhou ferry terminal to Gongbei Border (the border between Macau and Zhuhai).  The screen flashed in mandarin that a free shuttle bus to Gongbei would take 10 minutes and is about every 40 minutes interval. In mandarin free shuttle bus to Gongbei is translated as
"免费公车往拱北" Hope this will help those who do not understand mandarin.

Before we board the free shuttle bus to Gongbei, we need to show the staff our ferry tickets for the free ride.

Do not board the wrong bus, always make sure with the driver if the bus is heading to Gongbei cause the other buses are heading to other parts of the China. If you do not understand mandarin, best to print out the mandarin words "拱北" (Gongbei).

After a ten minutes ride, we finally arrived Gongbei Border. The shuttle bus will parked infront of Friendship Hotel. Our hotel is Yong Tong Hotel which is located just next to Friendship Hotel. It is above the KFC Restaurant.

The above photo shows the Gongbei Border (between Zhuhai/Macau).  The right hand corner is the stairs to the underground mall which could lead to the Gongbei Border/immigration.

This is our hotel room, a very small hotel and the location is good cause it is just opposite the Gongbei Border where we could easily walked over to Macau. But regret to say we did not get the high floor so it was quite noisy as the bus station (buses that goes to other parts of China) was located next to the hotel. Glad we were staying only for one night.

Day 3 of our trip, We decided to take a ferry to Zhuhai, China from Hong Kong. We made our way to Sheung Wan MTR Station which is connected to Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal. Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal provide ferry services mainly to Macau and also to other cities in Southern China.

We bought our ferry tickets from Chu Kong Passenger Transport Company in the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal. Our ticket for one way costs HK$190 each.

We need to check in at least 15 minutes before the departure time at the East Bridge but we went in much earlier cause was the first time we travelled to Zhuhai via the ferry.

Saw lots of turbojet that goes mainly to Macau. They looked huge and comfortable.

Also spotted a helicopter on the heliport on the top of the ferry terminal. The helicopter shuttles passengers from the terminal to Macau but I guess must be expensive.

Taking ferry to Macau is a breeze cause there were so many ferries going there in short intervals while ferry to Zhuhai is a two hour interval.

Dont seems to be full load for our ferry to Zhuhai.

The blue and white ferry to Zhuhai, did not get a full picture of the ferry.

The ferry is also very huge and could easily takes in more than 200 passengers but the ferry I was on was about less than a 100 passengers.  It was a comfortable ride and the sea calm and took us about 70 minutes to reach Zhuhai, China.

Hongkong/Zhuhai/Macau Trip 2012 - Morning Market at Northpoint



3rd day of our trip, we had to leave Hong Kong for Zhuhai, China. We decided to have breakfast buffet at our Hotel. It costs us HK$61 each.



The breakfast is nice even though there's not much variety but enough to fill our stomach till lunch.



Very small but cozy restaurant.



After breakfast, we decided to walk around our hotel in Northpoint before checking out.

Realised there's a food centre at the building near our hotel but we did not bother to go up.

Nice to spot a market scene behind our hotel. Spot the track on the road, there's where the tram moved so you gotta to look out for the tram and other vehicles when doing your marketing here.

Lovely to see how the local do their marketing. Noticed most of them carry recycled bags or trolleys. In Hong Kong,  they charged for plastic bags.
