Day 3 - Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe Trip 2017 - Arashiyama , Kyoto
Day 3, breakfast was at MacDonald Cafe just located few doors away from our hotel. It was definitely so much cheaper than the buffet at the hotel.
Day 3, sightseeing was visiting Arashiyama. Went to Kyoto Station and tap our IC Card and looked for Platform 32 to board the train to Arashiyama Station.
The earlier train was so crowded so decided to take the next train which was another 15 minutes and at least we were able to get seats. From here, it was about 20 minutes train ride to Arashiyama Station.
There's a fare adjustment machine in the station, if there's insufficient money in the IC Card, can always top up the card using such machine.
Once outside the station, there's a big map to show the location of temples, bamboo groove, bridge, etc. I used my camera to take a photo of the map which proves handy. Following the map, I made my way to the bamboo groove.
Difficult to take nice photo of the bamboo, crowds of tourists everywhere. Free admission to the bamboo groove.
Next was a visit of Tenryuji (天龍寺, Tenryūji), the most important temple in Kyoto's Arashiyama district. It started to rain heavily here. Need pay admission fee to visit this temple. This is the only day it rained throughtout my Japan Trip, even though it was supposed to be the raining season. So this is the only occasion that my photos were blurred. Grrrr.
After visiting the temple, we walked all the way to the Togetsukyo Bridge. Along the way, there's many shops and restaurants.
As it was raining, the river current was very rough and strong. Gotta be careful not to fall into the river.
Very beautiful scenery. Saw many fruits on a tree but not sure what they were.
Saw a bus stop at this section of the bridge, we decided to take the bus back to Kyoto Station instead of walking back to the train station. The bus ride from Arashiyama to Kyoto Station is about 1 hour, while the train ride is 20 minutes but taken into account the amount of time to walk back to Arashiyama Station and climbing all the stairs in Kyoto Station, the time would be about the same. Moreover it was raining, walking in the rain was a bit difficult for us old folks. So we also get to take a short nap in the bus hahaha, Kyoto Station is the terminal for the bus so no worry when to alight.
