Seoul and Busan Trip 2013 - Day 6 - Shopping at Dongdaemun

From Gwangjiang Market we decided to walk to Dongdaemun, it looked so near on the tourist map but took us about 30 minutes, if you want to save your energy for shopping in Dongdaemun, can take the subway from Gwangjang Market to Dongdaemun Station. You can view the tourist map for the directions and stations.

Saw this spaceship looking building, is actualy Dongdaemun Stadium.

Centrally located in Dongdaemun is this tourist inforamtion booth, if you lost your way can seek information from them.

Besides all the big shopping malls in Dongdaemun, there's a flea market there selling very cheaply, is a real bargain but I did not get anything from here cause they sell mostly winter clothings. Actually I prefer to shop in myeongdong.

Heunginjimun, literally "Gate of Rising Benevolence" or more commonly known as Dongdaemun, is one of the The Eight Gates of Seoul in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, a prominent landmark in central Seoul, South Korea. The Korean name "Dongdaemun" means "Great East Gate," and it was so named because it was the major eastern gate in the wall that surrounded Seoul during the Joseon Dynasty. You can read more from wikipedia.

Nice that they are upgrading the subway station with escalators, during my entire trip, the climbing up and down the stairs of the stations really tired us.
