It is very important to print the name of the hotel and street name in Mandarin cause the taxi drivers cannot communicate in English. Telephone numbers of the hotel is useful too cause the drivers might not be familar with the street names. Some of the taxis are not from Suzhou, they are from Wuxi. The start up meter for Suzhou is 15 yuan while that of Wuxi is 10 yuan. The meter dont jump quickly so taxi fare within the city is really cheap.
The journey from Sunan Shoufang International Airport to Hotel Soul, Suzhou is about 1 hour. The lobby of the hotel is really dim. The hotel is owned by Hong Kong Company, therefore we could use the services of google, facebook, you tube, etc. It is known that China banned all these websites but I think the hotel is using their Hong Kong cable or what, cause when I google, I saw it was Google HK. It was really useful to be able to use google especially when we need to get all the information we need for sightseeing and travel, etc. The reason I choose this hotel was the location of the hotel is really good, it is just next to Guanqian Street, Suzhou famous pedestrian shopping street.
The hotel rooms were quite dim, but will be bright if you draw the curtains. But is fine cause most of the time we were out. The air conditioning in the room is very cold, they did some renovation works before we arrived. There were many complaints about their room not being cold. Am glad, we dont have problem with the air cond.
Bathroom were spacious.
The lifts were decorated like a spaceship.
The hotel provided complimentary shuttle transport to Suzhou Railway Station and Humble Adminstrator's Garden for hotel guests only.
Prior reservation before 18:00 of 1 day in advance is required. Seats are available on a first-order-first-served basis.
Schedules are subject to change without prior notice. But we only gave 20 minutes to book a trip to the garden on one of the day, luckily, they did not refuse us and we were the only two guests in the car. However we need make our own way back.
The hotel also provide sightseeing tour and rental of car with drivers. The price seem reasonable if there were more people to share the costs. Otherwise, just take the taxi to your attractions, the taxi fares were according to meter and is not expensive if is within the city.
