Bali 2014 - Day 1 - Walking around Kuta

After our late lunch at 4 pm, we walked around Kuta.

Hahaha saw these props at one of the restaurant (closed due to the Holiday), could not resist putting our feet into the huge shoes.

Statues of traditional musicians.

Kuta Town was quiet on the eve of Nyepi Day, most shops and restaurants were closed as they were heading back to their own village to celebrate the festive.

But there are still many restaurants and hotels open to serve tourists cause their staff are mostly Javanese and not Balinese. Nyepi Day is celebrated mainly by the Balinese only.

Speedy Mart is just beside our hotel and opposite discovery mall, found that their products are cheaper than other marts. Their products are all fixed price so you dont have to bargain like crazy for them unlike those shops in poppies lane 1 and 2 and the market place. Those shops can raise their prices to 60 or more percent. Infact I bought some boxes of chocolates and singlet tee shirts (for my sons) from this mart, the singlet tee shirts were around 30,000 to 35,000 rp but if you are good in bargaining you can get 20,000 rp from those shops in poppies lane and market place but if you are not good in bargaining, you could end up paying something like 120,000 rp.

There's a big hypermart near our hotel will post about this hypermart later.

Had a late dinner cum supper cause we had a very late lunch and wasn't feeling very hungry.

Found this little restaurant opposite Kartika Plaza Hotel.

The char kway teow is a little bit salty but the sandwiches tasted very good.
